BigSky Property

The BigSky property is located 17 km north of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. The property is comprised of five mining leases covering 137 hectares (338 acres) and 36 claims totaling 8,236 hectares.  The Ken claims, covering 193 hectares are subject to a 2% NSR, one-half of which can be purchased by the Company for $500,000 at any time.  The Blue Claims cover 588 hectares and are subject to a 2% NSR, of which one-half may be purchased by the Company for $500,000.  The balance of the property was acquired by staking and are not subject to royalties. The property adjoins the Giant Yellowknife Mine (past producer of 8 million ounces of gold from 14.5 million tonnes of ore grading 17 gpt) to the south and east, and the Bluefish hydroelectric power plant on the east.

The BigSky Property covers two different geological targets, a bulk mineable peralkaline granite-hosted low-grade target, and a high-grade shear zone-hosted target similar to the Con, Negus, Rycon, and Giant Mine models.

The latter target has been the focus of much the recent work, including 36 diamond drillholes completed in 2008.  Curvilinear domains of chlorite, sericite, carbonate schists (Yellowknife Shear Zones) transect Chan Formation volcanics of the Archean Kam Group, the underlying Central Slave Cover Group.  The YKS are predominantly north-striking and subparallel a suite of early Archean mafic dykes.  The YKS are in places mineralized with quartz, sulphides plus or minus gold.  There are four principal mineralized YKS on the BigSky Property extending over 10,000 metres from south to north are;

Oro Lake Shear Zone

Historic drillholes include:

      • 208.1 gpt gold over 0.6 m (ddh 19)
      • 27.8 gpt gold over 1.8 m (ddh 23)
      • 9.9 gpt gold over 0.8 m (ddh 52)

LM Shear Zone south

Recent drillholes (2008) include:

      • 1.5 m grading 4.82 gpt gold included in 3.0 m grading 3.21 gpt gold (B002)

LM Shear Zone North

Recent drillholes (2008) include:

      • 8.69 gpt gold over 0.7 m included in 2.2 m grading 3.46 gpt gold (B004)

WK Shear Zone

Recent drillholes (2008) include:

      • 5.87 gpt gold over 1.2 m (B005)
      • 2.09 gpt gold over 3.3 m including 4.78 gpt gold over 1.3 m (B008)
      • 5.57 gpt gold over 2.9 m (B025)

The other target on the BigSky Property occurs as disseminated sulphide-rich alteration zones in the peralkaline Duckfish Granite.  These patches are up to 1,000 m long and 100 m wide and contain discontinuous patches where the pink porphyritic granite is altered to a white phase with arsenopyrite plus fluorite zones that grade up to 2.2 gpt gold in grab samples.
